President Ilham Aliyev addressed World Humanitarian Summit in Istanbul
President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev and his wife Mehriban Aliyeva attended the World Humanitarian Summit in Istanbul, Turkey. Co-organized by the Republic of Turkey and UN, the first ever Summit brought together a total of more than 5,000 delegates including up to 60 UN member states' heads of state and government, officials of the crisis-affected countries, representatives of international organizations, NGOs and the private sector.
President Obama: US appreciates Azerbaijan’s co-op on security, counterterrorism efforts
The US President Barack Obama has sent a congratulatory letter to Azerbaijan's President Ilham Aliyev on the occasion of Republic Day. "We appreciate Azerbaijan's cooperation on security, including counterterrorism efforts, and are proud to serve with Azerbaijan in NATO's Resolute Support Mission in Afghanistan," said the US president.

President Barack Obama: Azerbaijan continues to play a critical role in global supply of energy
Azerbaijan continues to play a critical role in the global supply of energy, says US President Barack Obama's message addressed to the participants of the 23rd International Caspian Oil & Gas Exhibition and the 6th Caspian International Power and Alternative Energy Exhibition. "Over the past year, Azerbaijan and its partners have achieved significant milestone in making the Southern Gas Corridor a reality. The continued cooperation between Azerbaijan and its international partners will ensure the competition of this significant project. And the US stands ready to assist and continue to underscoring importance of the Southern Gas Corridor with our international partners," President Obama's message said.
US remains committed to supporting Southern Gas Corridor
The US remains committed to supporting new routes, including the Southern Gas Corridor, Trans Adriatic Pipeline (TAP) and IGB (Interconnector Greece-Bulgaria), that promote diversification for Europe's energy security, said US Secretary of State John Kerry's message read out by Amos Hochstein, the US Department of State special envoy and coordinator for international energy affairs. Hochstein read the message during the TAP groundbreaking ceremony in Thessaloniki, Greece on May 17.
Maros Sefcovic: Southern Gas Corridor realization to be a turning point
The Southern Gas Corridor project demonstrates that the creation of integrated energy infrastructure linking Caspian resources to European consumers is technically possible, economically viable, and politically beneficial for all parties involved, Maros Sefcovic, vice-president of the European Commission for Energy Union said during the Trans Adriatic Pipeline (TAP) groundbreaking ceremony in Thessaloniki, Greece on May 17. He called the realization of the Southern Gas Corridor a turning point. "Today is a historic day. The Southern Gas Corridor is the biggest construction project of our time," Sefcovic said, adding that TAP is an important part of this project.
TAP to be major asset in European energy security tool box - Sefcovic
Once complete, the Trans Adriatic Pipeline (TAP) will be a major asset in European energy security tool box, said Maros Sefcovic, vice-president of the European Commission for Energy Union. "By opening up access to gas from Azerbaijan, TAP will allow many countries, including in Central and South East Europe to diversify their sources of gas," Sefcovic said.

President Ilham Aliyev met with US Secretary of State John Kerry
President Ilham Aliyev has met with the United States Secretary of State John Kerry as part of his working visit to Vienna. John Kerry said the OSCE Minsk Group co-chair countries were concerned over latest developments on the line of contact. He said the co-chair countries decided to organize a meeting between the Azerbaijani and Armenian presidents on the initiative of the United States of America.

President Ilham Aliyev holds phone talk with US Vice President Biden
The US Vice-President Joe Biden held a phone conversation with President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev. The sides discussed the dynamics of successful development of Azerbaijan-US bilateral relations. President Ilham Aliyev recalled with satisfaction the meeting held with Joe Biden in Washington at the end of March this year.

U.S. Congressman Steve Cohen writes: “During the 15th century, the legendary Silk Road brought valuable goods, ideas and inventions from China to the West, including irrigation, paper and gunpowder. In the 21st century, the "Modern Silk Road" will connect the people, markets and economies of East Asia, Central Asia, the Caucasus and Europe.”

Among the major outcomes from the Global Forum Baku 2016 was the adoption by consensus of the Baku Declaration, a political document that will guide future efforts towards achieving the goals of UNAOC – a body mandated to promote harmony, understanding and peaceful dialogue among nations. The Forum brought together more than 4,300 participants, including Heads of State and Government, political officials, civil society representatives, religious and youth leaders, who exchanged their perspectives under the main theme on "Living Together in Inclusive Societies: A Challenge and A Goal."
